When I was pregnant with Shane, I suddenly developed an allergic reaction to my wedding ring. If I wore it for more than a couple days, my finger would blister and itch like mad! It kind of goes in spurts though. There are times I wore it several days in a row, and there are other times where just a few hours will cause me to break out.
So for a couple years now I've talked about getting a Platinum ring that matches my current set exactly (trade in the set - put the current diamond in a Platinum setting.) Well in doing research on the internet, I find out that some Platinum has nickel in it also! So that wouldn't do me any good. (Not to mention that it's twice the price of gold.)
There are other sites that say it might not be a nickel allergy at all - that it could be a rash from moisture/bacteria under the ring. They have some advice about soaking the ring in 2 parts Vinegar and 1 part hydrogen peroxide to get rid of any bacteria. I think I'll try that.
My brother's wedding band is made of Titanium - which I thought was pretty cool. It if truly is a nickel allergy that I have, titanium is nicke-free. I found this one at(http://www.justmetal.com/) and thought it was pretty cool looking. I could wear it all the time, and then just wear my wedding set when we go out or something.
I hate taking my wedding ring off. For the first 5 years I almost never took it off. Now I think I have it off more than I have it on. Hopefully I can find a solution.
