This one will have you feeling itchy all over! Shane somehow somewhere got into poison ivy. It started last Thursday morning. I noticed his left eye was all red and swollen and a rash on his neck. At first I thought it was bug bites, so I put some cortisone cream and sent him to school.
Then Friday (they didn't have school thank goodness), it spread to the other side of his neck and was more noticable on his face. Now he has it on his face, neck, check, groin, thighs, arms and hands and a little on his back.
Maybe it would have been easier to say where he doesn't have it!
We've been using Benedryl Cream on his face and some stuff called "Ivy Dry" on the rest of his body. I was told it works well, but from Shane's hollars and jumping around, I'm guessing it stings like mad! He's such a trooper though. After yelling for a minute after each spray, he still stands there and takes it.
On Sunday (Easter) he was bummed he couldn't wrestle with Uncle Jason or hold his baby cousin Zoey. He told me that while he was sitting on the couch, he prayed to God that he would take away his poison ivy. :( Poor little boy!
Monday he got to stay home from school and today he made it half the day. It was class picture day (figures) so he was wearing jeans and a long sleeve shirt, which wasn't the most comfortable clothes when you're covered in poison ivy!
I'll dress him comfortable tomorrow and hope he makes it a whole day at school. It's miserable stuff and unfortunately there's no instant cure!
